1. He has his own vocabulary words that he easily learned from us when he was just months old.
mommy-la (mamila) n. grandmother
daddy-lo (dadilo) n. grandfather
But later on, we heard him speaking his very own vocabulary words (no one taught him to utter these words)...
mima (meema) n. grandmother/mommy-la
dadu (dadoo) n. grandfather/daddy-lo
adi (adeee) n. father/daddy
2. He loves to watch Wowowee, a noontime TV show in ABS-CBN, hosted by Mr. Willie Revillame. When he hears the tune of "Adododoo", "Buksan Mo Papasukin Ako", you'll see him holding anything that can be used as an artificial microphone, singing and dancing in front of the TV, even blocking your view.
3.Since he is a fan of Wowowee, he imitated the hosting of Willie Revillame so you'll see him running to every corner, holding an artificial microphone (a serving spoon, and one time a "tansan"-bottle cap- when he can't find anything to hold asap) then shouting at anyone who watch him, uttering this word, "bigatin!".
4. When he runs to you and shouted "bigatin!", you have to sing the "adododoo" tune then he'll put an invisible money in your hand.
5. Ever heard the tune of "Sinabawang Gulay"? That's one of Bendyk's faves. When he hears that, you'll see him standing again in front of the TV, singing "makulay ang buhay, makulay! ang buhay!" while doing the dance steps.
6. Another commercial tune he loves to hear is the "isa, dalawa, tatlo...hay! bilangin mo ang biik ko, pag nabilang mo..." it's a piggery commercial and so corny, but Bendyk loves it hehehe!
7. Even when he's asleep, his eyes may be closed but his ears are always active for his fave tunes. When he hears the tunes, he'll wake up and run in front of the TV and do his hobby. We can't even fool him to stay in bed (we usually turn off the TV when the tune has just begun) or else, he'll cry out loud.
8. Before he take a nap, he sings along with his adeee their theme song, "Nakapagtataka". We wonder how he was able to memorize a few lines of this song. He knows what line will follow after his adeee sings a line of this song. We never forced him to memorize the lines, and yet he was able to store it in his memory. hmmm!
9. He also watches the primetime game show, "Deal or No Deal" hosted by Ms. Kris Aquino. You'll also hear him answering Kris' question, "No Deal" while his hands do the sign of No Deal.
10. Since Kris Aquino has lots of commercials on TV, when Bendyk sees her even if it's not on the "Deal or No Deal" game show, you'll hear him say, "Deal or No Deal!"
11. He may be a "maldito" at times, which perhaps he inherited from me. He would slightly spank you when you bully him, but he would suddenly say, "Churi, churi!" then kiss you on the lips.
12. One time, he and his adeee was on his way to his Mama's house (Bendyk's great grandma), but Bendyk fell asleep while on their ride. He was holding his "pogs"-that mini round cartons with anime pictures, which he took away from his uncle jom-jom (my youngest bro.). When they arrived at Mama's house, he woke up and said to his adeee...
Everyone in the house laughed and teased Bendyk's adeee for not getting what Bendyk means.Bendyk: Hulog pogs adeee! Two..adeee! pogs! (pointing on the road)
--He said he lost one of his pogs at the jeepney while he was asleep.
Adeee: Yaan mo na. Di naman 2 yan eh. Marami na pogs mo. (trying to be more patient)
Bendyk: Two pogs adeee! (scattered all his pogs on the floor and arranged the pogs by 2's, but one of the pogs has no pair)
Mackenzie, Bendyk's second name, means son of a wise man. But that time, it's the other way around hehehe! Peace hubby! mwah!
13. At home, you'll often hear the father and son having an argument, especially when it's Bendyk's time for bath. He just wanted to be alone in the bathroom as he swim on a big basin. But Bendyk's adeee would insist to bath Bendyk so he won't catch cold. Just recently, while I was still at home before going to work, I heard Bendyk shouting at his adeee, "Uwi na! Uwi na!" It was not a pleading tone, but somewhat an authority telling his dad to go home (to his mama's house). Sigh! Manang mana talaga sa ____...no comment hehehe!
14. At young age, he knows now how to fool (perhaps, lambing is the right term) his aunties and tito. He'll only kiss them when they have something to give like an apple, chocolates, and almost anything he can eat--he has a strong appetite, that's why.
15. He knows how to use the so-called association memory. There was an instance when he saw his auntie mimin's slippers worn by his auntie shenalyn, he told her that she shouldn't wear it because it's her auntie mimin's slippers. Another one was my bag, which mama (his great grandma) held just to look at its design, but Bendyk told her not to get it because it's her mommy's bag. These are just a few of his reminders. whew!
16. He is a demanding 'lil kido who would always say, "bilis!" after every request, like "mimi ako adeee, bilis!", "mommy kain ako, bilis!"
Some of his traits may not be that good, but for a 1 year old and 9 months kid like him, I think it's just but cute little things that amaze us, and somehow make us happy. But to you, my 'lil Bendyk, watch out when you grow old...if you don't behave the way a 'lil boy should, wait for my spank hahaha!!! (sssshhh...bantay bata!)
